The "list" figure is the crossed-out price shown next to each package on the official page. That is the rate that applies when the citizen promotion does not.

What international visitors actually pay

This is the part the official site does not explain in English. Every online price above carries the footnote "promotional price valid for citizens of the Republic of Turkey". If you cannot show Turkish ID at the entrance, you pay the standard rate, and in practice that means paying at the desk in lira on the day.

Three practical consequences:

  1. Budget in euros, not in the promotional lira figures. At current exchange rates the citizen prices look cheap; the standard rate for a foreign adult is closer to what our entry ticket costs.
  2. Pre-book to avoid the desk. The queue at Istanbul Aquarium is a ticket-desk queue, not an entry queue. A mobile ticket walks past it.
  3. Bundle the add-ons if you want them. Ocean Giants and the VR ride are sold separately inside; buying them at the desk means a second queue and a second card payment.

Our options below are priced in euros, confirmed instantly, and do not depend on citizenship. Prices are shown "from" because the final amount depends on date and group size and is confirmed at checkout.

Which option to choose

  • Staying in Sultanahmet, Sirkeci or Beyazıt and comfortable with trains? The entry ticket plus the Marmaray from Sirkeci is the cheapest and fastest combination. See how to get there.
  • Travelling with a stroller, grandparents, or three-plus children? The Sultanahmet shuttle bundle or the Taksim shuttle bundle costs only a few euros more than the ticket and removes two train journeys.
  • Hotel outside the meeting-point areas, or a group? The hotel pick-up bundle collects you at the door.
  • Want the Ocean Giants exhibition and the VR ride? The Gold package bundles both with admission.

Buying at the gate

The ticket desk is at the main entrance on the ground floor of the complex next to Aqua Florya mall. Cards are accepted. Bring passports if anyone in your party wants a reduced rate (students with an international student card are usually accepted, but this is at the desk's discretion). On weekend afternoons and during Turkish school holidays (the two-week semester break in late January, the April and November mid-term weeks, and the summer) the desk queue is at its longest; weekday mornings right after opening are quiet.

Buying on the official site

The official ticket page is at istanbulakvaryum.com/biletal. It is in Turkish, prices are in lira, and the checkout asks for a Turkish ID number for the promotional rates. If you hold Turkish citizenship or residency and read Turkish, it is the cheapest route. Tickets bought there are valid for 30 days.

Refunds and changes

Official online tickets: refund requests go by e-mail to the address on the official FAQ, and the aquarium decides case by case. Our tickets: the cancellation terms are shown on each product page before you pay; the entry ticket is flexible within its 5-day window, shuttle bundles have a fixed departure and stricter terms because the vehicle is booked for you.

Frequently asked questions

How much is an Istanbul Aquarium ticket for foreigners?+

The official site's online prices (adult 1,000 ₺, reduced 900 ₺) are labelled as promotional rates for Turkish citizens. Visitors without Turkish ID pay the standard list rate at the gate. Our entry ticket is priced in euros from €35, is confirmed instantly and needs no citizenship check, which is why most international visitors book that way.

Can I buy Istanbul Aquarium tickets online?+

Yes. On this site you can book an entry ticket, a ticket with a shuttle from Sultanahmet or Taksim, a ticket with hotel pick-up, or the Gold package with the Ocean Giants exhibition and the VR ride. The official site also sells online tickets in Turkish lira, valid for 30 days from purchase.

Is there a family ticket?+

The official site sells a 3-person family package at 2,750 ₺ and a 4-person package at 3,600 ₺ (promotional rates for Turkish citizens). For international families the simplest option is one entry ticket per person over 24 months; infants are free.

Do children pay?+

Children under 24 months enter free. From 2 to 18 the official reduced rate applies (900 ₺ online for Turkish citizens). Students, teachers, visitors over 65, disabled visitors and veterans also get the reduced rate with ID.

What do the Premium, Silver, Platinum, Gold and Full packages include?+

They bundle the aquarium with paid extras: Premium adds the photo service, Silver adds the Ocean Giants exhibition, Platinum adds the Underwater Explorer VR ride, Gold adds both Ocean Giants and VR, and Full adds Ocean Giants, VR and the photo service. All include a 20% gift-shop discount.

How long is an online ticket valid?+

Official online tickets are valid for one month from the date of purchase. Our entry ticket can be used on any day within 5 days of the date you choose; shuttle bundles have a fixed departure.

Is there a skip-the-line ticket?+

There is no separate fast-track lane, but the queue that matters is the ticket desk, and any pre-booked mobile ticket bypasses it. On weekends and during Turkish school holidays the desk queue can reach 20 to 30 minutes.
